REMEMBER–EDUCATE–DEDICATE
About the project

RED (Remember-Educate-Dedicate) is an initiative that focuses on remembrance, healing and empowerment of Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) through the unique eye of our Nunavut artists.

The goal is to create a permanent and a growing collection of works in Nunavut, to be exhibited in both digital and physical spaces. In doing so, the Qulliit Nunavut Status of Women Council aims to create safe spaces for awareness, dialogue, and healing, while empowering Nunavut’s women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people to speak out against gender-based violence.

Welcome to RED! This is our online exhibit to commemorate Nunavut’s Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls. Our aim is to Remember-Educate-Dedicate in their memory.

This project has been a year in the making and has exceeded all the Council’s expectations. We could not be more excited with the pieces we’ve received and we are thrilled to share them with you.

Nunavut’s artists have proven once again that their talent is unmatched. As you will see, we have curated an incredible selection of art – personal, powerful and deeply impactful. A story of sorrow, angst, commemoration and hope, by and for Nunavummiut.

We understand that the root of this project is tragic, but we hope that these pieces and our vision will lead to some ability to heal and honour the victims. We remember them, and we commit to ending gender-based and intimate partner violence in their names.

    No more stolen sisters!
